About HIP

The Humane Investigation Project (HIP) stands at the forefront of the Anthony Graves Foundation’s fight, with a concerted effort by attorneys and investigators to work through the justice system to free the wrongfully convicted.

What we do

  • Screen cases from prisoners who articulate claims of actual innocence.
  • If we believe a prisoner has a claim of actual innocence that could be pursued, we conduct an investigation into the facts of the case.
  • In some cases, the Humane Investigation Project will refer cases out, with the permission of the prisoner, to independent lawyers who have volunteered to assist prisoners in pursuing their claims of actual innocence.

WHY THE ANTHONY GRAVES FOUNDATION?

The Anthony Graves Foundation is uniquely qualified to screen and investigate cases of actual innocence. Anthony himself stands as a beacon of hope for incarcerated men and women around the world, and they may reach out to him when they wouldn’t reach out to others.

In addition, Anthony has demonstrated a unique ability to obtain facts that may have eluded other investigators. Anthony assisted in gaining a critical piece of information that helped to free Alfred Dwayne Brown from Texas’ Death Row. A witness that had previously refused to speak told Anthony the truth, and those facts helped win Mr. Brown his freedom.
